We are Steven and Jason Parker, brothers, lifelong animal lovers, and lifelong residents of New Jersey. We are the proud founders of K9 Resorts Daycare and Luxury Hotel, the number one rated pet service in New Jersey. It is our pleasure to take this time to let you know a little bit about our history.
In 1999, at the ages of 14 (Steven) and 12 (Jason) we started our first pet care business, K9 Guardians Professional Pet Sitting, out of our love for dogs. At that time, we never planned on pursuing pet care as our careers, we just welcomed the idea to care for pets and earn extra money at such a young age. Everything changed in the fall of 2002 when Steven flew to Nashville, Tennessee in order to attend “Quest for Excellence”, an international conference and convention for professional pet sitters. It was at this convention and by witnessing how successful other pet care professionals had become, that our dream to open a luxury hotel for dogs was born. We spent many years researching and travelling all over the United States in order to research and later develop the finest and most state-of-the-art pet care facility.
In 2005 we purchased a commercial building in Fanwood, New Jersey and had it custom engineered and constructed to be one of the finest pet care facilities in the nation. Due to the unparalleled level of service offered, K9 Resorts is the only facility in New Jersey that is rated #1 by multiple major publications. This is something we are enormously proud of.
In 2009 we decided we wanted to provide other pet lovers with the opportunity to own their own business by sharing the knowledge and expertise we have gained over the past 19 years. We determined that franchising was the best way for us to grow our company and provide others the opportunity to own their own business. After conducting our due diligence, we retained the services of SMB Franchise Advisors, one of the top franchise consulting firms in the country, noted for growing such brands as Ritas Italian Ice, Lawn Doctor, and Hollywood Tans, to assist us in this venture.
We are very excited to be able to expand our brand by franchising. K9 Resorts officially became a franchise company in January 2011, we are proud to have sold our first 6 franchises. We plan on opening dozens of more stores within the next few years.
We hope that this provided you with a little information about ourselves and a behind the scenes look on how we plan on expanding our quality pet care vision. Along with our entire staff, we work very hard to provide the absolute best pet care possible and are very proud of the reputation K9 Resorts has earned. Meet The K9 Resorts Team
Mark H. DeHoratius, Director of Operations
Mr. DeHoratius has been our Director of Operations since our inception in February 2016 through the present. Prior to joining K9 Resorts, Mark was VP of Operations with Pro Martial Arts Franchise from 2012 to 2015 and also held a Director level position with Aramark Corp. from 2008 to 2012.
Dave Stein, Director of Sales
Dave is a sales and marketing professional and Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) with an established background in building relationships and territories. For SMB clients, Dave helps implement and manage franchise development sales strategies. Dave also provides outsourced franchise sales support including lead generations, discovery day support and signing new franchisees. Dave comes with over 20 years of franchise experience, most recently as the Franchising Manager for Dunkin’ Brands. There his primary responsibilities were to source, interview and recruit new franchisees and sell additional stores to existing franchisees. While at Dunkin’ Donuts, Dave recruited 45 new franchisees/area developers which amounted to the opening of over 250 stores. Prior to working for Dunkin Donuts, Dave owned and operated a franchise/sales consulting business in South Florida. There he developed the territory into the most successful in the state from a client base of zero. Dave uses his expertise in promoting and presenting businesses and franchises to help clients wishing to enter the franchise path to success.
Steven Beagelman, Board Member
Mr. Beagelman has been a Member of our parent, K9 Holdings, LLC’s Board of Managers since its inception in January 2016. He is also a co-owner of our parent, K9 Holdings, LLC since January 2016. From January, 2011 through the present, he has been the CEO and President of SMB Franchise Advisors in Doylestown, PA, which specializes in advising franchise start-ups and existing franchise concepts.
Bernard B. Markey, Board Member
Mr. Markey has been a member of our parent, K9 Holdings, LLC’s Board of Managers since its inception in January 2016. He is also a Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Navigator Partners in Summit, NJ, from 1999 through the present. Mr. Markey has been the Director of First Light Home Care in Cincinnati, Ohio since its inception in 2009 through the present.
William H. Stewart, Board Member
Mr. Stewart has been a member of our parent, K9 Holdings, LLC’s Board of Managers since its inception in January 2016. He is a Managing Partner of Navigator Partners in Summit, NJ, since 2005 through the present. Mr. Stewart has served as a Director of First Light Home Care in Cincinnati, Ohio since its inception in 2009 through the present. From 2012 through the present, Mr. Stewart has served as the CFO and Board Member of KDC Solar a renewable energy company located in Bedminster, NJ.
